ADAMS Investigators are still looking into what caused a Feb. 2 blaze that destroyed one home and extensively damaged another house on Grange Avenue.
Detective Benjamin K. Timerman of the Jefferson County Sheriffs Department said on Wednesday that an investigation into the fire was ongoing. Investigators are waiting for lab samples before determining the cause. He said it may be awhile before the investigation can be concluded.
The fire began in a single-family home owned by Cynthia A. Smith. The blaze then spread next door to a duplex at 22 Grange Ave. Seven people in the duplex escaped unhurt. The fire also left about five people homeless.
