■ POTSDAM — Construction of an Aldi discount grocery store on Route 11 will begin in the spring. The project has been in the works for more than a year but was delayed several times.

■ BEAVER FALLS — Omniafiltra has purchased the old Beaverite mill from the Lewis County Industrial Development Agency. The company, which operates a paper-making mill next door, for several years has leased the property, with payments going toward the $105,000 purchase price.

■ ADAMS — The Adams Free Library, 2 N. Main St., will host a reading contest for children ages 3 to 8 who read the most books by Feb. 26. Reading logs are available at the library and are due back by March 1. Because March 2 is Dr. Seuss’s birthday, the library will announce the winner then.
