Former Lowville athlete A.J. Capone went 3-for-5 with a three-run double in the College of St. Roses season-opening baseball game, an 11-7 loss to Francis Marion (S.C.) on Saturday in Florence, S.C. St. Rose won the second game of the doubleheader, 3-1. Capone added a single.
Capone, the starting catcher for the Golden Knights, is a senior and team captain. He started all 42 games for St. Rose last season and knocked in 19 runs, batting .261.
