Frederick Bert McDougall, Port Leyden NY, passed away on 2/10/13 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Fred, the son of Jerry and Marion McDougall, was born 2/12/22 in Lyons Falls NY. He is survived by his children Rick (Renee), Layton UT; Bonnie (Bill) Manning, Lyons Falls NY; Jody (Tony) Secor, Lake Lure NC; 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 1 niece, 3 nephews and sister Elpha White, Schenectady NY. Preceded in death were his parents, sister Joyce Mashaw, children Rodney and twins Frederick & Fredina.
Fred graduated from Lyons Falls High School in 1939, married Anne Secore in 1942 and later divorced in 1959. A veteran of WWII who received a Distinguished Unit Citation Badge with 1st Oak Leaf Clusterobtained a pilot license; worked at Georgia Pacific Pulp & Paper Company; became the local Union President responsible for obtaining a new and better Pension Plan; owned and operated Macs Restaurant located between Port Leyden & Lyons Falls; managed the Port Leyden Little League team in 1960 that won the Lewis County Championship; and was a journeyman carpenter Local #277for a number of years before retiring.
Fred was a devoted family man who was happiest when surrounded by his family and pets. He spent his 91 yrs in the Port Leyden/Lyons Falls area. He was known by many people and will be greatly missed.
