CARTHAGE No injuries were reported in a fire that damaged a mobile home Tuesday at 39980 County Route 40, north of Carthage near Fargo.
The fire was reported at 4:14 p.m. by homeowner Daniel Davis, who lives next door.
The house is rented by Sahrae and Nick Ganter, who lost a dog and two cats in the fire.
There appeared to be extensive damage to the mobile home, but there was no damage to the attached garage.
The Carthage Fire Department was assisted by firefighters from West Carthage, Great Bend, Natural Bridge, Champion and Castorland.
Also responding to the scene was the Carthage Area Rescue Squad.
The cause of the fire was undetermined after initial investigation by Lewis County Fire Investigator Larry A. Hall Jr., who also is the assistant fire chief for the West Carthage Fire Department. The investigation is ongoing.
The structure is insured and the tenants have renters insurance.
