Levi M. Smith, 17, of 633 Lillian St., was charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana after Watertown police responded to a report of a domestic incident at 9:20 p.m. Saturday.
Mr. Smith is accused of recklessly creating a risk of public alarm by engaging in violent and tumultuous behavior, including yelling loudly, banging doors and throwing things around his bedroom in behavior directed toward his girlfriend, Patricia Daniels.
During the incident, he allegedly possessed a switchblade knife with a 4-inch blade in plain sight on his bedside table, along with a small quantity of marijuana.
Police said Mr. Smith intentionally prevented several officers from placing him under arrest by pulling away from them when they tied to handcuff him, attempting to fight them and refusing to follow any verbal commands.
He also was charged with second-degree harassment for allegedly kicking a police officer multiple times in the leg while being arrested.
When finally subdued, he was taken to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, where he was held pending arraignment.
