CARTHAGE Ash Wednesday marks the start of the Village Ecumenical Ministries Lenten Luncheons.
A prayer service with music and luncheon will be held at noon each Wednesday during Lent at the Carthage First Church of the Nazarene, 960 State St. The service will be hosted this week by Grace Episcopal Church, and the Rev. Edward Murphy will lead the prayer service and distribute ashes. The Rev. Mr. Murphy also will offer ashes at a 7 a.m. prayer service at Grace Episcopal, 421 State St., and at 1:30 p.m. in front of the church during his ashes to go distribution. He will have a service at 5:30 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 5411 Trinity Ave., Lowville.
St. James Catholic Church, 327 West St., will distribute ashes at services at 8 a.m. and noon and St. Marys Church, Main Street, Copenhagen, at 5:30 p.m.
