Birthdays
Clayton native H. Rozelma (Wood) Wagner turns 95 years old on Feb. 20.
Known by family and friends as Nana, Mrs. Wagner was born on her familys farm in Clayton. She attended school a half-mile from her home and she graduated when she was 16.
She attended church at St. Marys Catholic Church, which was 5 miles from her home.
Mrs. Wagner, who now lives in Bristol, Va., developed a love of reading at an early age a hobby she continues. She reads up to five novels a week, according to great-granddaughter Carrie Cornett. She also subscribes to the Watertown Daily Times and enjoys knitting and crocheting.
Mrs. Wagner married Richard L. Snags Wagner in 1936. He died in 1997. She moved to Virginia in 2004, where she lives with her daughter, Carolyn Ward. She attends church every Sunday, bakes on a regular basis and enjoys family get togethers.
When asked about the most important thing she would like young people to know, she said, Enjoy your family. That was our life, with family. We always got together for every occasion.
She attributes her long life to hard work and good food.
Birthday wishes for Mrs. Wagner can be sent to Rozelma Wagner, 624 Navaho Trail, Bristol, Va., 24201.
