PHILADELPHIA — Indian River Central School District bus driver Ron St. Louis received a plaque at Thursday’s Board of Education meeting for how he handled an altercation in late November.

“We’re recognizing someone for an incredible job in a tough situation,” said Dennis L. Schrecengast, human resources director.

He said Mr. St. Louis broke up a fight between students and handled a parent who boarded the bus.

Fort Drum’s Command Sgt. Maj. Mark H. Oldroyd presented the plaque to Mr. St. Louis.

“With your actions, the professionalism, the calmness, just being a grown-up, you gained control in that situation effectively, and that’s something we can all applaud,” said Command Sgt. Maj. Oldroyd.
