HOPKINTON — Mikle N. Lavare, 25, of 13 1/2 Bridge St., Nicholville, was charged with third-degree assault, criminal obstruction of breathing and fourth-degree criminal mischief Friday by the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s office following a domestic incident.

Police allege Mr. Lavare choked his victim, causing minor injuries, then prevented her from calling for help by taking her cell phone and disconnected her land line phone.

Mr. Lavare was arraigned in Parishville Town Court and sent to the county jail with bail set at $500, to appear on the charges on Feb. 20 at 8 p.m.
