FORT DRUM — The post recently was named the 2012 Best Army Antiterrorism Program, in the large installation category.
Improvements made at the post in recent years include an expansion of the mass notification system and the reconstruction of four active access points.
The post also upgraded more than 500 alarm systems and conducted active shooter situational training.
The program is run by John Simard and Bill Ladd, who work under the post’s Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security.
The post in 2010 placed second in the category. Mr. Simard in 2007 was named the Army’s Best Antiterrorism Program Manager.
