Collins-Hammond Electric Second Vice President Gary S. Hammond has been proposed for membership on the Ogdensburg Growth Fund Development Corp.
Mr. Hammonds letter of interest in joining the citys small business lending agency was discussed at Wednesdays Growth Fund board meeting.
Chairman and Mayor William D. Nelson and members City Manager John M. Pinkerton, Scott M. Wright, James McCarthy and Dallas Sutton were receptive, so Mr. Hammonds name will be put before the Ogdensburg City Council for approval.
If the council votes to approve the appointment, Mr. Hammond will serve a two-year term. Mr. Hammond, 44, said Wednesday he wanted to join the Growth Fund board because he was impressed by its role in nurturing the citys business community and the work being done by City Planning and Development Director Andrea L. Smith.
Its good to see movement on the business front, he said. Id like to have some input.
Collins-Hammond, located at 7724 Route 68, has been in the electrical contracting business in Ogdensburg for 30 years.
Mr. Hammond is a native of Heuvelton who lives in Ogdensburg.
