OGDENSBURG The cost of building on or improving property in Ogdensburg has just gone up for some.
The City Council approved a $25 increase in application fees for site-plan reviews, zoning variances and subdivision reviews that also must be reviewed by the St. Lawrence County Planning Board.
Under the plan, the cost of a residential site-plan review will increase from $150 to $175 if the county were required to review.
The county Planning Board reviews any site plan or variance application for property within 300 feet of a county or state road and any application for a use variance.
Council members explained the fee increase was to cover additional costs the county passed on to the city.
Ogdensburgs application costs already exceed those for most municipalities to support the work of its professional planning and development staff.
Volunteer board members conduct the reviews in most municipalities.
