Marc and Susan Murphy, Watertown and Avalon, N.J., announce the engagement of their son, Marc Richard Murphy Jr., Springfield, Mass., to Danielle Jaclyn Matte, also of Springfield.

Miss Matte, daughter of John and Denise Matte, Nashua, N.H., graduated in 2004 from Nashua High School and in 2008 from Western New England College, Springfield, with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. She is a personal trainer for Elite Fitness, Chicopee, Mass., and payroll coordinator for Permasteelisa North American, Windsor, Conn.

Mr. Murphy graduated in 2004 from Immaculate Heart Central High School, Watertown, and in 2008 from Western New England College with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, with a concentration in sports management and entrepreneurship. He is a sales consultant for Cintas Fire Protection, Pawtucket, R.I., and a real estate investor in western Massachusetts.

A Sept. 1 wedding is planned.
