SYRACUSE Syracuse head football coach Scott Shafer has added another coach with bloodlines in the profession to his Orange staff.
Pat Perles, the son of legendary Michigan State head coach George Perles, will coach the Syracuse offensive line. Shafer and Syracuse defensive coordinator Chuck Bullough are also second generation football coaches. Perles brings 23 years of collegiate and professional coaching experience to the Orange.
Perles joins the Orange after working with the Kansas City Chiefs for three seasons, including two as the assistant offensive line coach and one as a defensive quality control coach and assistant linebackers coach.
Im pleased to add Pat Perles to our staff as our offensive line coach, Shafer said. I have followed Pats career for years and have been thoroughly impressed with the way his kids play for him. He brings a high degree of toughness and attitude as an offensive line coach.
During his six years as a coach at North Dakota State, Perles was the offensive coordinator (2005-08), run game coordinator (2004) and offensive line coach (2003).
