POTSDAM — The Air Force ROTC honored a Potsdam native and Clarkson University graduate with its University Civilian of the Year award.

Heather Bradley Oney, an administrative secretary for Clarkson’s Department of Aerospace Studies, was one of four people nationwide to earn the award.

In her duties, Ms. Oney handles cadet pay and academic issues and assists with major events such as ROTC’s commissioning ceremony and new student orientation. She also covers the responsibilities of active-duty staff during personnel changes.

Each year, the Air Force ROTC honors one civilian from each of four regions. Ms. Oney, a Colton resident, will compete against the other three regional honorees for national recognition.
