CARTHAGE Patricia N. Featherston, 30, of 510 Cemetery St., was charged Thursday by village police with endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree harassment.
Police said they responded Monday afternoon to Carthage Elementary School at the request of the Jefferson County child protective services unit to investigate the report of a 5-year-old with a head injury.
Police Chief Reginald Huber Jr. said Ms. Featherston told police that she attempted to strike the child on the arm, but a bag she was holding that contained a glass container slipped and struck the child in the head.
Ms. Featherston is to appear in Village Court.
