The state Department of Environmental Conservation announced an expansion of a special snow goose harvest program that allows hunters to take snow geese through April 15 in the upstate area.

The change was made Jan. 23. This special harvest is in addition to the regular hunting season, which runs from Oct. 1 through Jan. 15. Previously, the special season would not have started until March 11.
