CRIMINAL POSSESSION MARIJUANA - MASSENA - Massena-based state police charged Christine L. Crete, 31, of Finch, Ont., with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana at 12:26 p.m. Wednesday following a secondary inspection at the U.S. port of entry in Rooseveltown. U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents found 19.65 grams of marijuana in her vehicle and an additional 6.13 grams in her purse.An unlawful possession of marijuana violation is upgraded to a misdemeanor charge when the amount of marijuana is greater than 25 grams. Crete was arraigned by Massena Town Justice James M. Crandall and released after posting $200 bail.

ANIMAL CRUELTY - LISBON - St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department charged Aleaha R. Hollis, 53, of Forsythe Road, Lisbon,with a misdemeanor count of failing to provide proper sustenance Thursday after deputies investigated a complaint of animalcruelty on the Forsythe Road in the town of Lisbon. Deputies said their investigation revealed two pigs onthe property were malnourished and unhealthy. Hollis was released on an appearance ticket returnable in the town of LisbonCourt at a later date.
