Belleville

Winner: Karrigan Riordan, fifth grade student at Belleville Henderson Central School, Belleville, was one of 10 winners of the Scholastic Book Club’s “Paws for Reading Photo Contest.” Her entry was of her springer spaniel, Lucy, “reading” Miss Riordan’s favorite book in her favorite chair. Karrigan will receive 100 books, as will her class.

Publishes book: Susanne Zwingel, associate professor of politics at SUNY Potsdam, recently published an edited volume, titled “Feminist Strategies in International Governance.” Through Routledge’s Global Institutions Series, Ms. Zwingel co-edited the book with Gülay Caglar, Humbolt University, Berlin, and Elisabeth Prügl, Graduate Institute, Geneva. The book looks at the way which international and non-governmental organizations have confronted global gender hierarchies and covers feminist strategies in international issues of areas of human rights, peace and security management and economic and financial governance.
