CANTON — A Canton man faces charges after he allegedly violated an order of protection by contacting his estranged wife.

St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies said Melvin H. Daniels, 27, of 88 Jingleville Road, reportedly “went to the protected party’s place of study” and “initiated and engaged in conversation” with her.

Deputies did not release the wife’s name, nor where in the village the incident took place.

Mr. Daniels was charged with second-degree criminal contempt, a class A misdemeanor. He was arraigned in Pierrepont Town Court and committed to the St. Lawrence County jail in lieu of $500 bail.
