MASSENA - Massena Centrals Jefferson Elementary School is celebrating the installation of 11 Smart Boards and LCD projectors thanks to an ALCOA Foundation Technology Grant.
The new technology is the first part of a two-year $53,000 grant designed to give students interactive tools to learn important educational concepts in different ways. Getting students involved and engaged is an important step toward improving student performance.
To make certain the teachers make best use of the hardware, each have received Smart Board training from an in-house technology expert.
We are extremely grateful for this generous grant and look forward to the positive impact that our new technology will have on present and future students, Principal Duane Richards said.
These lucky students are now taking virtual field trips, learning math by moving objects on screen with a touch of their fingers, participating in webinars, and even accessing interactive books, he said.
In the final phase of the grant, to be completed during the next school year, the school will install Smart Boards and LCD projectors in all of the remaining classrooms giving each teacher the technology to engage their students in more interactive learning.
