POTSDAM — The Sugar Shack has moved into 141 Market St., the former Tardelli’s Restaurant, and so far business is looking up, according to owner Karen E. Rayburn.

The restaurant and bakery spent a year and a half at 6585 Route 56. The new location is about the same size, but is closer to downtown. This attracts more customers, Miss Rayburn said.

“We’ve met a lot of new people, and all of our old customers followed,” she said.

The Sugar Shack uses only half the building. Billy’s Deli, owned by Cornelius Mahoney, was to move into the other half, but the plan fell apart when Billy’s closed. The future of the unused space is unknown.
