MASSENA Zach Robert scored early goals in the first and second periods to help Massena defeat Canton 3-1 in a Northern Athletic Conference Division I hockey game Monday at Massena Arena.
Robert scored just 37 seconds into the game, then gave Massena (9-5-1 overall, 6-2-1 league) a 2-0 lead with a goal 4 minutes, 16 seconds into the second period.
Tyler Young finished the scoring for the Red Raiders and added an assist.
Cody Moore scored for Canton (3-9-2, 1-4-2).
Connor Paquin made 21 saves for Massena.
OFA 4, Malone 1
Brandon Mullin scored a pair of goals as Ogdensburg Free Academy broke open a scoreless game in the second period en route to a Division II victory at Malone.
Drew Costigan started the scoring for OFA (8-3-2, 7-1-1). Burke Comeau added a goal. Mullin also provided an assist and Jake Garrison assisted twice.
Trevor Cooley scored on the power play for Malone (7-6-1, 3-5-1).
Lake Placid 4, Norwood-Norfolk 4 (OT)
Brandon Short and Cody Smith scored goals in the third period to force overtime and Norwood-Norfolk and Lake Placid ended in a nonleague tie at Lake Placid.
Dillon Savage scored a pair of goals for Lake Placid (7-2-3) to help give the Bombers a 4-2 lead. Eddie Kane and Shane McNierney also scored.
Troy Kovach and Dan Fykes scored for Norwood-Norfolk (7-6-1).
Lake Placid edged Norwood-Norfolk in shots 25-24.
ST. LAWRENCE 7, SARANAC LAKE 3
Nate Stickney, Kody Kocsis and Lukas Arquiett each provided two goals and an assist as St. Lawrence won a nonleague game at Saranac Lake.
Devon Euto assisted on three goals for the Larries (12-3). Blake Baldwin finished with a goal and an assist. Ian Lynch assisted on two goals.
David Cluckey, Bradley Shumway and Quinn Urquart scored for Saranac Lake, which trailed just 3-2 after a period.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
MALONE 42, AUSABLE VALLEY 31
Rachel Lamica and Janelle Heden each scored 10 points to lead the Huskies (10-4) to a nonleague victory.
Meghan Strong netted 15 points and Logan Snow 11 for the Patriots.
