Potsdam
Honored: Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam, recently named three staff members employees of the quarter during a ceremony Dec. 19:
Amy Tulip, a coder and abstractor, joined CPH in 2011.
Nancy Guyette, certified pharmacy technician, joined the hospital as a nurses aide in August 2003 and moved to her present position in 2007.
Terri Simzer, interim director of physical rehabilitation, joined CPH in 2001 as a certified physical therapist and served as associate director before her current position.
Jefferson County
Honored: Laurie L. Woodward, left, and Ann M. Jenner, both registered professional nurses,were inducted into the New York State Health Works Honor Roll at a recent meeting of the Jefferson County Health and Human Services Committee.
Mrs. Woodward and Mrs. Jenner work for the countys certified home health agency.

Madrid
Service honored: Raymond Stiles celebrated 50 years of active service with the Madrid Volunteer Fire Department. He was honored Jan. 8 at the departments January meeting. Mr. Stiles has been the only member of the department to achieve 50 years of service, having joined on Jan. 8, 1963. He is active with the St. Lawrence County Fire Police Association and is treasurer and a member of the fire police unit for Madrid Volunteer Fire Department.
Watertown
Receives license: Ryan Grant, local musician, recently earned a private pilot license through the Mike Williams Flight School at Watertown International Airport.

Receives doctorate: Dewayne Bramlett, Watertown, received a doctorate in occupational therapy from Baylor University, Waco, Texas.
Studying abroad
Canton
Performing research: Elizabeth Bastien, Canton, is conducting research in Nepal. A sophomore at St. Lawrence University, Canton, she is majoring in economics. Miss Bastien, along with two SLU professors and two other students are conducting interviews with families who receive remittances, or payments from family members who have left and moved elsewhere, and the impact that the money has on education and literacy.
Studying abroad: Spencer Mallette, Canton, is spending his spring semester in Zanzibar, Tanzania. Mr. Mallette is a senior biology and environmental studies major at St. Michaels College, Colchester, Vt. He graduated from Hugh C. Williams Senior High School, Canton.
