HARASSMENT - MASSENA - Village police charged Deanna M. Peterson, 19, of 18 Amherst Road, Massena, with second-degree harassment Thursday following an investigation into a fight that took place Nov. 7 in ther cat food aisle at the Massena Wal-Mart store.
Peterson is accused of shoving Samatha Hayden and then punching her several times in the face. Ms. Hayden reportedly suffered a minor cut above her left eye, a cut behind her right ear and had hair extensions pulled out during the altercation. Court documents indicated Ms. Hayden was dating Petersons ex-boyfriend.
Ms. Hayden, in a statement she signed for police, said she was at the store with two friends when they encountered Peterson. Ms. Hayden said Peterson turned the corner into the cat food aisle, started shouting and charged at her. She said Peterson shoved her with both hands and then started punching her. I had a bottle in my hands that I used to smack Deanne in the face to get her off me, she said.
Peterson, in her statement to police, acknowledged she had shoved Ms. Hayden, but she suggested the fight broke out after Ms. Hayden punched her.
Prior to this fight Sam has been threatening me on Facebook by saying shes going to have her friends come after me. One of Samathas friends told me that she was going to use my intestines as a jump rope, she noted in her statement.
She said that led to her decision to confront Ms. Hayden amd ask if she had been talking about her when she saw her at the Wal-Mart store.
