Roland M. Weaver Sr., 83, of 446 Arsenal St., Watertown, passed January 16, 2013 at his home where he was under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
A funeral mass will be said 10 a.m. Sat., Jan. 19 at St. Patricks Church with Rev. Donald Robinson, pastor officiating. A 9:30 a.m. prayer service will precede the mass at the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home.
Entombment will follow in the Glenwood Mausoleum with military honors.
Calling hours will be 6-8 p.m. Fri., Jan 18 at the funeral home.
Mr. Weaver was born on January 7, 1930, in Thomaston, Maine, the son of Roy W. and Letitia Lurvey Weaver, attending school in Maine.
He entered the US Army on January 27, 1948 and served during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on February 7, 1957 as Specialist Second Class. He received the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and US Service Medal.
He married Eunice A. Phillips on September 1, 1950 at St. Patricks Church while serving at Fort Drum. Upon Mr. Weavers discharge the couple resided in Watertown.
He worked for Brownville Paper Mill, St. Patricks Church as a custodian for nine years, Boys and Mens Specialty Shop and Hess Service Station on Washington St up until he retired in 1999.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Association, enjoyed collecting a variety of treasures, going to flee markets and garage sales and playing games of chance.
Among his survivors are his loving wife of 62 years, Eunice A. Weaver, Watertown; a son, Timothy E. Weaver and his fiancé, Carrie Ross, Adams Center; three daughters and two sons in law, Virginia I. Ginny and John Johnston, Watertown, Debra L. Baker, Munnsville, Brenda S. and Michael J. Jesmer, Watertown; four grandsons, three granddaughters; a brother and sister in law, Francis and Patricia Weaver, FL; an additional four brothers and three sisters and his faithful dogs, Otis and Chico.
Besides his parents a son Roland M. Weaver Jr. passed July 20, 2008.
