HENDERSON Mary Virginia Stevens Maitland, 92, passed away Sunday, January 6th at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home with her grandchildren Paula and Scott by her side.
She was born in the Village of Henderson, the youngest child of Melvin G. and Mary Richmond Stevens. She graduated from Henderson Central School. She married William George Maitland January 10, 1946 at the home of his brother Wilford and his wife Bertha Maitland. He died April 2, 1996.
Mr. and Mrs. Maitland were life residents of Henderson until moving to Hilltop Towers in November of 1994. With the help of Paula, Trsitan and an extended group of support caregivers, Ginny was able to live at her home until entering the Samaritan Keep Home in April of 2012.
She was a homemaker and for many years, a member of the Henderson Fish and Game Club Auxillary. She loved her family, Lake Ontario, the family pets, rummage sales, jigsaw puzzles, search word puzzles, Bingo at the Fish and Game Club and at Samaritan Keep, and visits from family and friends.
Ginny is survived by two daughters, Mary Anne (Peter) Aubin, Henderson, NY and Eagleville, TN and Jane Maitland and companion Joseph Burnside of Frazee, MN. Five grandchildren Paula (Everett) Deline, Watertown; Scott Aubin, Henderson, Jason Maitland, MN, Amanda and Caleb OGorman of TN and Justin Aubin of TN. Five great grandchildren, Tristen Daymont, Eryne Daymont, Tristan Aubin, Jillian OGorman and Kerrigan OGorman, four step great grandchildren and 11 step great great grandchildren, nieces, a nephew and four cousins. Ginny was predeceased by her husband, a granddaughter, Jillian Allyse Aubin and her sisters Kathryn E. Stevens, Frances Ol Stevens and her brother Melvin W. Stevens.
Services will be held in the summer of 2013. Arrangements are with the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville.
