PETIT LARCENY - POTSDAM - Canton-based state police charged Sasha S. Monroe, 23, of 841 County Route 38, Norfolk with petit larceny Friday evening after responding to a shoplifting complaint at the Potsdam Wal-Mart. Monroe attempted to leave the store with merchandise hidden in her clothing. The merchandise consisted of batteries and various personal grooming products valued at $316.93. She was released on an appearance ticket for Jan. 17 in Potsdam Town Court.
It was Monroes third petit larceny arrest over the past two weeks.
Monroeinitially was charged with one count of petit larceny, a Class A misdemeanor, after attempting to steal items from Al Smiths Superette on the afternoon of Dec. 29, state police said.
Monroe was informed by store staff that she was not welcome to return, troopers said. Three days later, however, she allegedly went back to the market and tried to leave without paying for two bottles of soda.
The second incident earned her a second petit-larceny charge, as well as one count of third-degree criminal trespassing, a class B misdemeanor.
TRESPASSING - NORFOLK - Massena-based state police charged Serena H. McLaughlin, 40, of 100 Water St., Massena, with trespassing Friday following an investigation into a complaint received at 2:44 p.m. Dec. 2 from the town of Norfolk. A 15-year-old female from Massena was charged with criminal mischief as part of that same investigation.
