NRA gun control plan has been tried before

Yes, gun-free zones are in schools.

But skating rinks, public parks, swimming pools, beaches, playgrounds, ballparks, tennis courts, opera houses, music halls, churches, temples, synagogues, religious retreats, summer camps and even ice-cream vans are some of the places where we would hope to safely take our children without risking being murdered or maimed by another out-of-his-mind, well-armed American male.

The National Rifle Association and its supporters claim that arming teachers is the solution to keeping crazed killers from attacking, then it logically follows that we should arm everyone, everywhere!

This NRA theory was tried before on the frontiers of the old wild West, where all kinds of reasons could be justification to murder another person. Our forefathers wisely implemented gun laws in order to rein in the murder and mayhem as civilization took hold and territories became states.

The modern-day NRA seems intent on taking a tragic situation and making it one that can grow totally out of control. Human nature being what is it, mistakes happen and you can’t say sorry to one who is dead.

But this is the NRA’s gun control theory — arm the teachers! NRA executive vice president Wayne LaPierre is taking a wobbly stand behind his theory — lock, stock and barrel.

Just imagine the money that will be “shooting” into the NRA’s coffers with each shooting of and/or by another “standing my ground” citizen?
