Watertown- Doreen A. Lewis, 88, formerly of the Weaver Road, died January 9, at Samaritan Keep Nursing Home.

She was born May 11, 1924, in Rodman, the daughter of, Thomas and Helen Bassett Gibbs. The family moved to the Adams area where she graduated from local schools and the Watertown School of Commerce. She married Robert S. Lewis, August 12, 1945, in the rectory of Emmanuel Congregational Church, by the Rev. A.K. Evans. Mr. Lewis died, September 15, 1997. Doreen worked for G.W. Whites and Sons for a number of years before working for Lyng’s Office Supple for many years, retiring in 1996.

Doreen was a member of Emmanuel Congregational Church, Beta Sigma Pi and an avid Bridge player.

Doreen is survived by a son and his wife, James S. and Priscilla Lewis, Carthage; four daughters and their husbands, Judy A. and Robert Fiorentino, Sackets Harbor, Jeanne C. and Donald Auensen, Marietta, GA, Janice E. and Christopher Weston, Voorheesville, NY and Jackie D. and Raymond Bartholomew, Norwood, NY; sister, Doris Butler, Zepher Hills, FL; 9 grandchildren and their spouses, Paulette and Steve Dove, Rob and April Fiorentino, Jim and Jen Lewis, Adam and Ursula Auensen, Dane Auensen, Nichole Weston, Lucas and Jen Weston, Matthew and Shannon Bartholomew and Anne Bartholomew; 13 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be given in her memory to Hospice of Jefferson County, 1398 Gotham St., Watertown, NY 13601 or Emmanuel Congregational Church, 119 South Hamilton St., Watertown, NY 13601.

Funeral service will be held at the Cleveland Funeral Home, Watertown, Saturday January 12, at 2:00, with the Rev. Ron Farr, pastor of Emmanuel Congregational Church officiating. Burial will be in spring in North Watertown Cemetery. Calling hours will be 12:00 till 2:00 before the funeral, at the funeral home.
