Watertown police say a Fort Drum man tried to cut off a cat’s toe as punishment for scratching a child.

Eric Ayuso, 25, was charged Thursday night with aggravated cruelty to an animal. He faces prosecution in City Court.

Police said the incident occurred the afternoon of Nov. 8 in a bathroom at 1223 Faichney Drive, Apt. 2. The toe was amputated, police said.
