CANTON — St. Lawrence University freshman forward Sean McGovern has been named ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week based on voting by the league’s coaches.

McGovern recorded his first multi-point game in the Saints’ 4-3 loss to RIT on Friday, assisting on all three goals, and earned his fourth point of the weekend when he assisted on Kyle Essery’s game-winning goal in Saturday’s 4-3 victory over the Tigers — the program’s 1,000th triumph.

A right wing from Milton, Ontario, McGovern has five assists, in 19 games. The Saints return to ECAC play by hosting Yale and Brown at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
