CARTHAGE — Ronald R. Khan, 41, of 30124 Route 3, Lot 4, town of Rutland, was arrested by village police Wednesday for his alleged failure to update his file with the state’s sexual offender registry.

He was committed to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, Watertown, by Village Justice S. Lucille Shettleton, who set bail at $2,000.

Police said he faces three charges: failure to make notification of a change of address; failure to verify address, and failure to update his photo, which is required every three years.

Mr. Khan is registered as a level one sex offender, and lowest of three categories, police said. He was convicted of third-degree rape, involving a 15-year-old girl, in May 2000 in Jefferson County Court. His name will remain on the registry into the year 2020, police said.
