CANTON — A water main break on East Main Street in the village prompted several restaurants to close Monday night while crews worked to make repairs.

Among the businesses shuttered were the Asian Buffet & Grill, Pizza Hut and the restaurant at the Best Western/University Inn.

The Department of Public Works was called out to fix the break on East Main near Crescent Street, village Superintendent Brien E. Hallahan said.

Parts of the village were under a boil water alert because of the break, he said.
