OGDENSBURG — The Ogdensburg Bridge and Port Authority is opening ice fishing access to Wheathouse Bay when conditions are safe.

“The authority is pleased to once again open Wheathouse Bay to ice fishing activity effective immediately for the winter through March 15,” said Wade A. Davis, the authority’s executive director. “The site offers a unique winter experience for ice anglers throughout the north country, which nicely complements the St. Lawrence River Valley’s FISHCAP program.”

The state Department of Environmental Conservation recommends at least 4 inches of solid ice for safe fishing.

Users are reminded to enter through the authority’s new port access road at the intersection at Ford and Barre streets, to be aware of increased port traffic and to use the site at their own risk.
