An inmate at Watertown Correctional Facility was charged by state police Thursday with first-degree promoting dangerous prison contraband and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Jack N. Cooper, 31, was found possessing in his cell synthetic marijuana mixed with tobacco and eight Suboxone pills, used for the treatment of opioid addiction, according to documents filed in Watertown Town Court.
According to the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision website, Mr. Cooper is serving a term of 1½ to 3 years for felony criminal contempt, given him in August 2011 in Tioga County.
