MASSENA A 22-year-old Cornwall Island, Ontario, woman was sent to the St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, on Wednesday after she was picked up on an arrest warrant for a January 2012 charge of possessing 38 Percocet pills without a prescription during a secondary inspection at the U.S. port of entry in Rooseveltown.
The St. Lawrence County Sheriffs Department arrested Kacey C. Printup on the warrant that had been signed Feb. 15 by Massena Town Justice James M. Crandall charging third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
She was arraigned Wednesday by Massena Justice Gerald P. Sharlow and sent to the jail on $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond, to reappear Friday afternoon.
Ms. Printup had been charged by the St. Lawrence County Sheriffs Department last Jan. 6 with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after police alleged she was in possession of 38 Percocet pills with the intent to sell them.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers had referred her for a secondary inspection at 2:14 p.m. that day at the U.S. port of entry in Rooseveltown after they said she appeared nervous during initial questioning.
Customs officers allegedly found the Percocet pills in Ms. Printups front pants pocket during the secondary inspection. She allegedly told officers she had paid $160 for the pills and could sell them for $5 a pill, according to court documents.
