The city will try once again next week to auction off the former Fort Drum Vehicle Storage warehouse at 753 Rear W. Main St.
Bidders may tour the building during two open houses, from 1 to 3 p.m. today and from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday. Department of Public Works employees will be on hand to let bidders go through the building. The auction will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall.
Two people have expressed interest in submitting bids, City Comptroller James M. Mills said.
City officials thought the building was sold at an Oct. 10 auction when Ruby C. Charlene Williams put in a high bid of $125,000. She submitted a $12,500 deposit but never attended the closing for the property. The city acquired the property when Fort Drum Vehicle Storage owners JoAnn Sanchez-Norquist and John S. Norquist lost it in July after they failed to pay $17,776.37 in back taxes.
