Police have identified the man that claimed he was stabbed during the early morning hours of New Years Day.
Robert E. Rivera, age unknown, of 210 Sherman St., suffered a stab wound that caused bleeding, according to city court records. Jefferson County Sheriff John P. Burns said Wednesday his department is continuing to investigate the incident that may have occurred at about 12:45 a.m. at the Ramada Inn on Arsenal Street.
So far, Mr. Rivera has failed to cooperate with investigators about what happened or how he suffered the wound, Sheriff Burns said.
City police also became involved in the investigation after they were called about an hour later to 519 W. Main St. for a reported stabbing. At the time, police did not know whether the two incidents were related.
While they were at the West Main Street incident, city police said two people were charged with obstruction of governmental administration for interfering with their investigation.
