The city of Watertown Fire Department wants residents to make sure that fire hydrants remain clear of snow. Fire Department officials said that every second counts in fighting a fire, so firefighters must have easy access to hydrants.
Residents also are urged not to let snow accumulate in front of heating appliance air intakes or exhaust. Carbon monoxide can be dangerous if it remains inside a house because exhaust and air intakes are clogged.
