DOLGEVILLE — Corey Gaffney and Zech Pitre each went unbeaten to pace the General Brown wrestling team to a second-place finish at the Mountain Duals on Saturday.

Gaffney (220-pound weight class) and Pitre (195) both won all eight matches for General Brown, which went 7-1 on the day.

The Lions won their first seven matches before losing to Penfield in the championship round, 37-27.

Ryan Snow (126) and Tyler Silverthorn (160) each went 7-1 for General Brown.

Earlier, General Brown defeated Burnt Hills, 41-31; Albany Academy, 62-17; Dolgeville, 45-31; Amsterdam, 34-3; RFA, 70-12; and Camden, 48-21.

INDIAN RIVER EARNS THIRD

Stefan Colbert (106) earned most outstanding wrestler honors as the Warriors took third at the Brett Dixon Memorial Tournament in Central Square.

Tucker Amato (99), Colbert, Derrick Gray (138) went 9-0 in their matches to help Indian River go 7-2 on the day.

Vestal won the meet over host Central Square.

HOCKEY

ST. LAWRENCE 2, PLATTSBURGH 1

Ian Lynch scored the winning goal on an assist from Kody Kocsis to lift the Larries to victory in the championship game of the Islanders Tournament in Alexandria Bay.

Luke Arquiett started the scoring with a goal set up by Kocsis and Lynch in the second period.

Goalie Nate McLaughlin turned away 18 shots for St. Lawrence.

John Fine-Lease scored a power-play goal, and Robby Knowles made 22 saves for Plattsburgh.

HILTON 2, ISLANDERS 2

Hilton won in a shootout to capture the consolation game of the Islanders Tournament at Alexandria Bay.

Chris DiVasta scored with three minutes remaining in regulation to tie the game. Frank Gaffney also scored, and Austin Bull finished with two assists. Nick Coyle made 22 saves for Hilton.

Evan Dier recorded a goal and an assist as the Islanders led 2-0 after one period. Zach Walti scored three minutes into the game for the Islanders.

MASSENA 3, MALONE 1

Zach Robert sparked the Red Raiders with a goal and two assists in a win over the Huskies.

Connor Paquin handled 15 shots for Massena (5-3-0, 3-1-0 NAC).

Trevor Cooley scored the lone goal for Malone (4-1-1, 3-1-1 NAC), which received 37 saves from goalie Joey Brown.
