The U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command is investigating the death of a 10th Mountain Division soldier.

Sgt. Carl E. Brock, 28 of Claremore, Ok., died Monday at his residence on post. He was a communications transmission systems operator with the 2nd Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team.

Brock joined the Army in August 2007 and served at a variety of posts before arriving at Fort Drum in November 2011.

He deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from July 2009 to July 2010.

Brock’s awards and decorations include five Army Achievement Medals, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Army Superior Unit Award, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon and the Marksmanship Qualification Badge w/Rifle. He completed the

Combat Life Savers and USAF Airlift Planner Courses.
