Funeral services for Mark Steven Cook, age 52, of Gulfport, MS, will be held Wednesday, December 19 at 11:00 a.m. at Frary Funeral Home with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. Calling hours will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. before the funeral services on the 19th. Mr. Cook died unexpectedly at his place of employment on Friday, December 14, 2012.

Mr. Cook is survived by his brother, Philip Cook; his sister, Brenda Neadom and her husband Russ, both of Lisbon, his stepbrothers, Randy Lawton, of Michigan, and Paul Lawton of New Jersey; and his three stepsisters, Sharon Lawton and her husband, Dale, of South Carolina, Joanne Waddell and her husband, Matt, of New Hampshire and Candy Bresett, of Ogdensburg; his stepson, Steven Winters, of Mississippi; and nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his mother and stepfather, June and Robert Lawton; his brother, Andrew Cook and his stepbrothers, Alan Lawton and Joseph Strait.

Mr. Cook was born in Ogdensburg on February 17, 1960, the son of June Lawton. He was raised by his Aunt Millie Bresett and her husband, Leland (Lee), both deceased. He graduated from OFA in 1979. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1979 – 1983. He worked at Kangaroo Food Mart in Gulfport as a Sales Consultant until his untimely death. He enjoyed playing at the casino and it was ritual for him to go to Mardi Gras every year.
