Watertown police have made a driving while intoxicated arrest to close out an investigation into two accidents that occurred early on Aug. 30 in the J.B. Wise parking lot and the Black River Parkway.
Jerry C. Lambert, 21, of 409 Academy St., Apt. 1, was charged Sunday with DWI, leaving the scene of an accident and making an unsafe lane change.
Police said he was taken to Samaritan Medical Center that morning after his vehicle went off Black River Parkway, traveled down a grassy hill and struck a light pole. At the hospital, a blood test revealed his blood alcohol content to be 0.09 percent, just above the states standard for intoxication, 0.08 percent, police said.
During the investigation of that accident, police determined that a hit-and-run driver had struck a handicapped sign in the J.B. Wise parking lot. A muffler and tailpipe that dropped at that location were found to be the parts missing from Mr. Lamberts auto at the second accident scene, police said.
