OGDENSBURG — The ninth annual Festival of the Trees held Dec. 1 at Odd Fellows Hall, 1111 Linden St., raised roughly $46,000 for the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center Auxiliary.

Bonita A. Wright, event co-chairwoman, said the festival was well-attended at its new venue, with 1,300 people filtering through during the day and 500 attending the auction.

The event formerly was held at the Armory, 225 Elizabeth St.

“We were very pleased with the fact that we had a parking lot, that we had a kitchen and that we were wheelchair-accessible” this year, Ms. Wright said.

Last year’s event, which featured 61 trees, raised $49,000.

Ms. Wright said the decrease in proceeds had to do with the higher cost of the new location and the drop in Christmas trees for auction; this year, 50 trees were up for grabs.

“We thank people for coming and supporting us for everything we do during the year,” Ms. Wright said.

Planning for the 2013 festival will begin in August.
