A Jefferson Community College workshop instructor is the latest recipient of the Outstanding Continuing Education Instructor Award.
Katherine Doe Johnson, Carthage, was awarded by the Continuing Education Association of New York in early November during an annual conference in Saratoga Springs.
The Outstanding Continuing Education Instructor Award is bestowed to an individual who has demonstrated innovation in teaching, student-centered approach to teaching, ability to impact students lives and dedication to lifelong learning, according to a JCC news release.
She has been teaching workshops at the college since 1989 about topics such as the Internet and Microsoft Excel.
Her reputation for excellence in the classroom and following of adult learners has organizations asking for her by name when registering for workshops, Andrea C. Peck, JCC coordinator for community service, said in the statement.
