Dec. 18, 1937: Watertown is to have its first indoor skating rink with artificial ice when Wilfred H. Longtin, 126 Winslow street, president of the New Carbonic corporation, opens his Iceland in the Merchants hall building on the fairgrounds in lower Coffeen street probably next week.

Dec. 18, 1912: By a vote of 17 to 13 the board of supervisors this morning went on record as opposing a tuberculosis hospital for Jefferson county. This position rescinded all previous action of the board to the selection of Natural Bridge as a site for the hospital and empowering a special committee to select a new site at a special meeting in 1913.

Dec. 18, 1887: On Saturday evening, John Thomas, who resides on Cedar street, driving a horse on Arsenal street, tried to pass a farmers team without turning out. Spectators say that Thomas turned to the south and that the farmer did the same. The result was detrimental to Thomas wagon which was deprived of its two hind wheels. The farmer rode gaily on, without stopping to evaluate the damage.

Dec. 18, 1862: The examination of classes at Arsenal street High School will commence on Wednesday (tomorrow) afternoon and continue through Thursday and Friday forenoon. Rhetorical examinations on Friday afternoon. The patrons and friends of the School are cordially invited to be present.
