CANTON — A St. Lawrence County jail inmate faces contraband charges after corrections officers found a marijuana cigarette in his clothing on Thursday, the county Sheriff’s Office said.

Joshua R. Hughes, 19, faces a second-degree charge of promoting prison contraband, a Class A misdemeanor. Deputies said corrections officers found the marijuana during a search.

Mr. Hughes is to answer the charges in Canton Town Court.
