A Watertown High School sophomore graces the front page of the New York State School Boards Association’s latest newsletter.

For the story titled “New conversation urged about suicide prevention” by Merri Rosenberg, Dani L. Fleming was interviewed about the purpose of the Stay Strong Club she founded for students earlier this year.

“It’s a place for kids to let off steam,” she said in the article. “It’s not about being a counselor. My idea is that there would be someone they could trust.”

The article questions whether flying a flag at half-staff or allowing people to post comments on a school’s Facebook page when a student commits suicide is glamorizing the act.
